Eyelash Tinting Tips: Why You Should Do It

Eyelash Tinting - Why You Should Do It + Tips On How To Do It

Do your eyes lack that extra something that draws people in? Are you eyes azure pools, but hidden behind boring brows and nearly nonexistent eyelashes? If that is the case, then you may consider eyelash tinting rather than smudging on the mascara and other makeup to try accentuating them.

Eyelash Tinting Tips: Why You Should Do It

You want your eyelashes to live up to their potential. They should make a statement that lets your eyes shine from behind them.

Why You Should

Pale Faces

The pale face is a huge trouble-maker when it comes to beauty recipes. Usually or at least most of the time, it is accompanied by blond or nearly-white lases and hair.

This leaves you nearly a flat surface to work from. Darkening your eyelashes would give you a little more depth to work with.

Remember to avoid making a drastic change, like stepping from white blond to black or dark brown would leave you in a rut of getting them touched up constantly. Opt for a natural color instead, like a honey color or a golden blonde. These colors will bring out the natural flecks in your eyes that everyone has.

After all the color of your eyes is never one flat color, unless you are wearing contacts to make it so. Plus, this will look less artificial ans subtle differences are keys in beauty, which is why a little depth can add a new fullness or structure to a flat colored face.

Should you be in the crowd, that has dark hair and pales skin, you are dealing with two extremes. Most likely you already have black mascara as part of your beauty regimen.

A little eyelash tinting can go a long way in benefiting your overall look, not to mention your pocketbook. Mascara does serve the purpose of plumping your eyelashes, but if you can do it without it, then all the better.

No One Needs to Know

Many women dye their hair to avoid the grey and many women do so to hide the fact that they are getting grey, which to them is a sign of getting older. Others may simply be hiding another hair color all together, because of personal reasons.

This change will leave you with little bits of evidence that perhaps you have made some change to color. These evidences can be your eyebrows, eyelashes, or even other light facial hair. This can go two directions. For light colored hair that has gone dark, you will need eyelashes darkened to give the hint of it being natural.

Eyelash Tinting Tips

Then just the opposite in order to make an esthetically balanced look. What this simply means for you, is that only you and your hairdresser will know that you have made any change at all, as long as you do not attempt any extremes.

Looking deeper into this, you need to consider your eyelash tinting separate from any other tinting. You should look at the type of mascara you use or want to start using. Also, you should consider your own hair color at the natural level.

For example, a red haired person will not naturally have black eyelashes. The best idea is to speak with your experienced hairdresser to discuss what would look best for you. Remember that it is their expertise you are paying for and you do not want to allow someone unexperienced with dangerous chemicals around your eyes.

Semi-Permanent

Most people want to avoid taking permanent choices like microblading or other types of permanent makeup. But what should be the difference between microblading and eyebrow tinting properly. With some changing up their style is very important.

After all, styles change and you opinion of what is best for your look will to. You will not wear the same make up you did when you were sixteen, when you are forty.

Eyelash tinting

Eyelash tinting is also a great option for a quick vacation or holiday change. This is especially great if where you are going has you in the ocean or poolside where you makeup is going to nonexistent.

In fact, it will help you retain the depth needed to make your eyes really shine. Another situation where you might need a quick semi-permanent eyelash tinting is a location where you might shed a tear, like a wedding.

The Morning Routine

The very first time you put your makeup on, seems to be the best time. Reapply never seems to look as good as your first try at it. In this case, tinting is an amazing option. You never need to worry about touching it up throughout the day.

Plus, should you run out of time getting ready in the morning and not put on makeup, you will always have a leg up. Your base is set witheyelash tinting and you need not worry about looking to pale or like you did not have time to apply your own makeup.

Also, this is a good option for those who have an allergy to eyeliners and mascaras. Or simply those who find they have worn too much and their skin or eyes are irritated. Tinted eyebrows will then give you the look without the pain or allergic reaction.

How It Is Done

Remember that the process should be done by a professional to avoid putting your eyes in unnecessary danger.

Products Used:

Eyelash Tinting Agent

There are hundreds of brands on the market, but let your hairdresser or esthetician choose the brand they trust the best.

It should cost between $15 and $60 for at least a bottle or box of one time use tint. One option you may need to check is if it is coal free, but you should not have to worry about this in more prevalent brands and popular hairdressers or estheticians.

Eyelash Tinting Developer

With the developer you should choose one that is the same brand of tint you used. Most of the time this will come as a kit, but if purchased separately could be between $15 and $60. Roux Lash Tint is a popular brand of tinter.
Buying the tint and developer together should save you some money. Again, default to the professionals opinion on this, as they have used the product and know its benefits and short-comings.

Tissues

Your typical Kleenex tissue should do, but make sure it is lotion and perfume free. It should be a new box with at least a thicker consistency that one ply toilet paper. You can get these for a couple dollars at most any store.

Cotton Pads

The typical cotton cleansing pad can be purchased for a couple of dollars at any drug store or market in the personal items section. Do not purchase these from the craft section of any store, as they are poor quality.

You want ones just for personal use. It is going to hurt if you find cotton with a seed still in it. These usually come in larger packs of 50 or 100, possibly more, but spend no more than a few dollars.

Witch Hazel

If you are not familiar with this, it is an astringent produced from the leaves and bark of the Witch Hazel shrub.

It has been used for medicinal purposes for hundreds of years and is now popular for treating anything from sores and bruises to swelling and excessive oil on your skin. Again you can find this in the personal care section of most stores, for around $5. Better quality will cost you about $10.

Directions

Again, let me reiterate that your hairdresser or esthetician should be the best person for this, but should you do it on your own, consult an online guide. The following are basic directions and NOT necessarily everything you will need to know or do in the process ofeyelash tinting .

  • Choose the proper tint for you skin and hair color.
  • Mix your tint and developer in bowl, using recommended amounts per their container's directions.
  • Apply the tint to your top lashes first. Make sure you place a tissue beneath your lashes so the tint does not touch your skin. If it does it can cause tinting of the skin and possible irritation like swelling or redness.
  • Keep your eye closed in this process.
  • Leave the tint/developer mixture on your lashes the allotted time.
  • Put witch hazel on the cotton pad and remove the tint from your eyelashes, careful not to get the tint or witch hazel in your eyes.

Where To Get it Done

The best place to begin finding people who offereyelash tinting is with your own hairdresser or esthetician. Some may not offer the service upfront but do offer it. Should this become a dead end, they probably know someone who does it.

Another option is to call around to local salons and spas for the service. However, one of the quickest ways is to use a search engine and search out salons or spas that offer the service. If they are quite a distance from you, you may want to make a mini-vacation out of it and get other services done as well.
